Marie Kondo is a Japanese organizing consultant, renowned author, and television personality known for her tidying philosophy.
Her tidying approach, known as the KonMari Method®, emphasizes organizing by categories rather than by location within your home. The KonMari Method® offers a distinctive perspective on tidying, encouraging individuals to consider what “sparks joy” as they evaluate their belongings.
During the Tidying Festival, five categories are explored in this sequence: clothing, books, paper, komono (miscellaneous items), and sentimental items. After discarding items that do not bring joy in each category, the remaining belongings are systematically organized and assigned their designated spaces.
